Early September and our "child request"

Early Sept. KT inquired as to what age/sex child we wished to host - we were still not at all considering adoption - just hosting. We were, after all, set - retirement, freedom, etc. So we requested a boy - 8 or 9ish - thought that would go good w/ our family of boys. We both have sons - all grown and now have 3 grandsons. So we were male "geared"! After about a week something hit us both about the same time that a girl was the way to go - and a little older. We thought it would be more likely that the younger male grandchildren would think of her as an older sister and prevent any "boy"/"sibling" rivalry. So, I e-mailed KT and told her this - she very quickly sent back an e-mail w/ a picture of a beautiful little girl, 13 - and said - "I have the girl for you"! The picture shown is the picture she sent to us of her. She went on to explain how wonderful this little girl was and how she hoped to find her a host family and ultimately get her adopted. Well, we took one look and "knew" - we would take her!!! Something pulled so hard at us that night - that we started talking adotion - even though we had been so against going down that road. Well, long story short - we decided that something beyond us was happening and that we had better do everything we could to be prepared. So Tom and I agreed to start all the paperwork prep of a dossier to adopt - even though we WERE NOT going to adopt - just in case! We knew in our hearts this was now out of our control and that if this little girl got here and all was well - then we wanted to be prepared to move as quickly as possible. If she arrived in Dec. and things did not work out then we had just spent some time, effort and a little money - OK - so we opted to be prepared! Thank you Lord!
