We were shut in for a few days! The ice storm left us w/out power thru Sat. and w/ the county in a State of Emergency. We played lots of games and had Christmas gifts to entertain us. By Monday we got back out again and relieved some cabin fever. Thomas, Terry and Alex - (Tom's son, wife and their 6 yr old son,Alex, who was adopted from Russia in 2004) got up here and we celebrated Christmas w/ them on Monday evening. A fantastic time was had by all and we were once again moved by Ira's ability to relate to all ages and her gentleness and compassion for younger children. Alex had been so excited to meet her. According to his mom and dad he was very particular in his dressing and grooming to come visit Ira as he wanted to look "just right" for her! That is true to the sweet nature of Alex - our little "sweetheart"!!! The two kids got along beautifully and we had one very special night! Ira was true to form, playing w/ everyone and continuing to give Tom a hard time at every turn - being the constant "joker" with him!!! The kids loved opening their gifts and Alex was particularly happy w/ a large amethyst "rock" that I found for him that he has been asking for for about a year and Ira was thrilled w/ a Hannah Montana CD as well as her new watch! They were both "prized possessions"! When the evening ended I think everyone felt blessed by having these two children in our families and lives. It felt so right - so natural - and I know we all were blessed because of it!!!
