December 17 and HOME!!!

Finally, after a flight cancellation - we arrived in Greensboro and headed home! Little did Ira and I know we were headed home to an arriving blizzard! Tom rushed us to town that Thursday afternoon to the "market" and to the mall. We had groceries to buy - unplanned meals - not knowing what Ira would eat - and then shopping for at least a couple of pairs of jeans and a heavy coat - gloves, a couple of shirts etc.!! This was done in a whirlwind couple of hours! Finally home about 5:30 - showed her around and was worried about the dogs - Bentley & Charlie - a 2 yr old goldendoodle "huge puppy" and Charlie - a 5 1/2 yr old golden retirever - knew they would love her but worried about her reaction - well 10 minutes later they were best of friends - she loved them! So we settled in - cooked up a lasagna - she scarfed it down - took a long hot shower - had me dry her hair - tuck her in and she was "out"!!! We all slept to the beginning of the blizzard - by Sunday we had about 30 inches of snow @ home!!!! This was insane weather and not our plan - we had hoped to be out and about - doing things w/ her. Instead luckily I had bought a gingerbread house to make, Christmas cookies to bake and a few board games - of which Sorry became her favorite! So, we all stayed home, cooked, baked and played games. We were worried she would be bored - but she was wonderful - her dispostion and attitude was amazing. And now looking back, we consider the bad weather to be a gift - it forced us all into an intimate family environment - dealing w/ normal schedules - no outside "distractions" so we learned very quickly how and if we could bond. The answer came very quickly to Tom and to me - yes we could/ we did and we knew in 24 hrs we wanted to adopt her if she would have us!
