Monday April 12, 2010 Blog
There has not been much to blog the last couple of days. We are getting well into the 10 day wait now so there is very little activity. Ira has been with me each day which has been wonderful as usual. After court last week we had Dima translate some things for us and we laughingly both agreed we were quite bored each day with so little to do. But we both realize it’s just the way it is for now and it will get much better very soon.

Today was cloudy and cooler than it has been being. We went down to main street to try to get Ira’s passport photos made, but were met by a locked door. Today was a holiday of sorts to honor those that are deceased so most places were closed.
Each day we both countdown the days left until we leave here to start on the last leg of this journey to get home. I’m not sure who is more excited – Ira or me!!! We did buy candies today to add to the gift bags for the kids in her class. We will have a going away party this Sunday for all of them. There is no doubt it will be a bittersweet day.

I was able to call my sister-in-law, Jane, tonight and talk with her for just a few minutes. It was great to hear a voice from home!! She has been e-mailing constantly to help me get thru this time away from home and family as well as keeping all the prayers going for us. She, along with Tom, Dad & Lynette and all my other family and friends constantly emailing are what have kept me moving forward on some days. That connection with home as been so very important to me and so much appreciated!

I told Jane I had to laugh at myself tonight because of what happened with a movie on tv. It was proof that it really is time for me to get home. I was flipping the few channels I have – I’ve learned many of the Ukrainian tv shows, but suddenly there was a movie on with actors I recognized. Hallelujah – there was something from “home”. So I watched for a minute – saw Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman – realized it was the “Bewitched” movie – which I had not seen. So I sat for 2 hrs watching this in Russian. When it was over I got up to go to the bathroom and said out loud to myself – what a cute movie! Then I started laughing because I realized, not only was I talking out loud to myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie totally in Russian. I now recognize so much of language that it is scary not to mention that I have learned all the words to the 10 music videos that they keep playing over and over again on their music channel! Time to come home for sure!!!

So tomorrow after I pick Ira up we will head back to the photo store to get her passport picture taken – our 1 big outing for the day! Hopefully we’ll get that done as we need to get the pictures to Odessa this week to expedite the passport in 1day next week. I’m sure it will not be a problem.

Tomorrow is Tuesday!! 3 more business days left before the weekend – then once that is over we’re outta here and on the very last leg to come home! YIPPEEEEEEE!
