Saturday April 3, 2010

So yesterday we noticed that there was this really strange looking bread all over town. It was everywhere – in the stores, sitting on tables in the streets. It looked like a giant – and I mean giant – cupcake with white frosting on top. So we were able to inquire and found out that everyone buys this bread and takes it to church on Easter Sunday. The priest (they call him the Pope) will sprinkle holy water on the bread and bless it. Then you take the bread home and eat it to receive blessings.
We were planning on going to the blue church right beside the orphanage but today we saw the director of the orphanage and she insisted we come to the orphanage for their Easter service. The “Pope” from the blue church walks over to the orphanage for a 7:30 am service. So we will get up, get dressed, grab our bread and head to the orphanage. We thought that was early until we found out that the blue church starts at 5:00am – so we feel fortunate that our command performance is for 7:30!!!
I will post tomorrow as to how this turns out – should be an interesting experience. Everything else is ok – I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful Easter Sunday!!!
