Last night Erica was out about 7pm and I was out about 8:30pm. We both woke about 2am but managed to get back to sleep - it was then a very hard sleep. Neither one of us woke until noon!!! But I think that did us a lot of good. We took our time showering and just getting organized in the room. It was a nice day out - a little cloudy -but ok. So we ventured out and went to the park - it over looks a lot of the city - there are vendors there and amusment rides - at least 3 or 4 rides. Then we walked back down to our street and went "underground" thru the tunnels where tons of vendors are and bought a few souvenirs - then went to the underground mall for some more sightseeing. I couldn't figure out why there were so many men there acting as if they were happy to be in a mall - then we saw the food court and the open bar - that explained it!! :-) No wonder they were all so happy!! We came back to our hotel about 6 and then ventured down to a restaurant that was Japanese on one side and Ukrainian on the other - we chose Ukrainian - it was delicious!!! We had a very cold beer (which I don't usually drink) and it was wonderful. Then we had a salad - that consisted of fresh chopped tomatos, yellow bells, and cucumber w/ just a tiny bit of olive oil - it was really good. Had these little steamed dumplings as appetizers - stuffed w/ a variety of wild mushrooms - topped w/ carmelized onions and a drizzle of smetlana - which is a type of very rich sour cream - YUMMY. Then for dinner was a pounded chicken breast topped w/ tomatos, bacon (kind of thin smoked canadian bacon and topped w/ a wonderful cheese that I've never tasted before - Delicious!!
Now back in the room - very sleepy - the travel catching back up. Have my phone set for the morning @ 7am - scared to death I'll oversleep b/c we're still quite tired. Called Dima and asked him for a wake up call - he laughed - said he'd be happy to call and said that anyone that sleeps til noon probably needs a wake up call. I tried to explain to him that was not normal - but he kept laughing!!!! He'll meet us in the lobby at 9am then we'll walk - about 15 min. to SDA for our appt. Hoping it goes quickly and smoothly!!
Took some pictures today but have not had time to down load - hopefully can do that tomorrow and share those on the blog while still here in Kiev before I leave the city and lose internet.
The pictures are great! So glad the appointment went well. Keep the pictures coming. Talk to you soon.
