Sunday March 28

We had daylight savings time last night so everyone in US is back to being 7 hr. behind me. I slept hard - 2 daylight savings times in one spring plus jet lag in between – fun! I’ve been lucky with weather so far – it has been very nice each day here. Sunny with temps probably in mid 50’s – even high 50’s some. This morning was a little over cast and cooler but still ok – nothing like it has been at home all winter!
Went over to orphanage this morning and Ira and many other kids were playing in one of their activity rooms. Ira wanted my camera and that was all it took – off they went – snapping all kind of silly, funny photos of each other. I was told “mama sit” – while they had a ball. I’ve gotten to know several of the other children over the last few days and they are just wonderful kids! I’ve had the chance to spend some time with a wonderful girl that is 15 that was hosted this summer and I delivered a gift to her from her host family. She is a beautiful girl and just has the sweetest disposition. I understand why her host family fell so in love with her. Then there is Roma – well I knew him thru pictures – but he is absolutely adorable! You just wish so desperately that you could take all of the children or at least find them families. These kids would bring so much love and joy to so many families. They are just infectious with their laughter and smiles and their willingness to reach out to you and to share with you. They truly seem to be a generous group of kids. They are so eager to learn from you and likewise are just as eager to share all that they have to give. I’ve just never experienced anything quite like these kids.
So Ira and I left about lunch time and came home to lunch here. We’ve just been relaxing. We got all the pictures that she and her friends took downloaded onto my computer. Then we had fun going thru all of them and laughing at the silly shots they took. I can’t wait until I get back home to really get these photos posted and also sent out to everyone.
I’ll have an extra hour of sunlight today so I won’t have to take Ira back until about 7pm! It’s strange but I’m getting used to this routine and feeling more and more comfortable. Funny how quickly we adapt! But even though I’m adapting I’m so very happy to have Ira all day every day – that is what makes this ok. And the joy of being around all the other children as well when over at the orphanage really helps. They are all a delight to be with and I truly am grateful for this time alone to just enjoy them all.
Oh – and to Lynn – if you find peanut butter in Odessa I’ll be your friend for life!!! :-)
