Died last night - Erica, Dima and I were all exhausted from early morning, long hard hard travel - roads are something else!!! Then a whole day of paperwork and stress plus the excitement of getting to Ira.
Today we started w/ signing papers w/ notary - then to orphanage - picked up Ira to have her for the day - will have her every day I'm here!!! Director is wonderful!!!
Dima had other work to do so we walked around town - went to the market - like a local mom & pop grocery in NC. Bought breads, pasta - sauce, cheeses, sausage, water - pepsi light, some type of candaion like bacon. Went to bank for money. Also had to go w/ Dima during the day back to inspectors/social workers office for Ira to write her peition to the court to be adopted. We talked earlier about her name and she has chosen to be Irina Katya. We stopped at a little kiosk and bought a book she wanted. Then we came back to the apt. and just "hung out". She read her book - played Uno - drew w/ Erica - went thru the clothes I had brought for her - found her nintendo from Christmas - played w/ that. She went thru some flash cards I brought w/ me for english - did really well - new a lot of them already. She helped us cook dinner - sausages, penne pasta w/ tomato sauce and crusty bread w/ garlic butter. Then about 7:45 we walked her back to the orphanage just in time to get ready for bed. Kissed her good night and told her I'd pick her back up in the morning. It was truly a great great day!!!! It was hard to let her go tonight - Erica and I both hated it - but she is ok and will get her back first thing in the morning!
Tomorrow plans - have to be at a meeting w/ the judge @ 9am - just informal meeting -
then to orphanage to get Ira!!! Dima will be waiting around a bit for inspectors office to give him the final papers to take back to Kiev for approval for court next week. Erica will be going back w/ him and will spend then night in Kiev and Sat. night there as well - she flys home early early Sun. am. Will miss my companion but have KT coming in next week to hang out w/ me.
This is one unbelievable experience and the best part is being w/ Ira and hoping to bring her home soon!! Will post more as I can - my usb modem hsa to be "reloaded" every so often - so am trying to be careful w/ my time on internet.
Thanks again to all for emails and keeping up w/ this journey!!!

ReplyDeleteWay to cool. What is your phone number and what service do you have. We have life and mtc. Glad you put a post out I was getting worried. Email me and let me know how the judge and prosacuter are tomorrow. I have missed place your email address. I thought I put in my address book. but can't find you. Glad Ira was so glad to see you.Hope Alyona is that happy to see us. We get our referral papers tomorrow between 3 and 4. But at the moment we can't get train tickets, and we have to be out of our flat late afternoon. Some big wig is to be on the train so half of it is unuseable. If he doesn't show up than we can maybe get a ticket. GOD knows we will be homeless so he will work it out.Talk to you later. =)
ReplyDeleteGlad things are working out so well. What a beautiful name she has chosen. Keep the news coming. Love to you, Ira Tom and your Sister.
